I just realized how long it has been since I posted something. I have been so busy with my last semester of college and my business is starting to pick up! I have finally reached 20 sales in my Etsy shop and I am soooooooo excited! It was my first goal for my shop.

Now, my next goal is to reach 100 followers on Facebook (www.facebook.com/jewellsembellishing), 100 followers on twitter (@jewelsembellish), or 30 sales on Etsy. Whichever I reach first, I will offer a free giveaway of an item from my shop. I will pick out certain items for the winner to choose from and then I will ship them to the winner!

I love my business more and more everyday and I hope everybody who has checked it out and those that will in the future can see my passion in my work and love everything that I do!

I have never seen an elephant like this before and I would love to add this one to my collection. In their shop they have many different types of wire beaded animals and they are all very cute. Spotlight on Handmade Crafts is a place for Etsians to advertise their products. It is a great way to get more exposure and hopefully more sales. It is not an expensive investment either. It costs $3...for the entire YEAR! The site is in beta, so they are working out kinks. But, I think in the long run it will be a good investment and will be worth every penny, and probably even more, at the end of the day. Busy, Busy, Busy!

Tomorrow will be the first day of classes for this semester, my last semester. I'm graduating in May WOOT WOOT! So, I will be super busy and unfortunately I do not feel like I will have as much time to post :-(. However, I will post whenever I am free.

Starting my last semester is such a bittersweet feeling. I do not know if I am really ready to go out into the real world on my own. I already have a job lined up with the Federal government, which is definitely a blessing, especially in this economy. I will definitely make a point to be up here at least once a week with my Etsy shop of the week, Etsy item of the week, weekly laugh, treasury features of the week, a DIY guide, and I will start doing a tip of the week instead of day.

By dipping your eyeshadow brush into some water, the color will become more sparkly and mysterious. The color will become more vibrant. Dip the brush in some water and apply it to your lids. The wet eyeshadow look is sexier and allows for an easy transition from day makeup to night makeup. However, not all eyeshadow can be applied wet, so make sure to look on the back of your eyeshadow to see if you can.

DIY Homemade Body Scrub

DIY Homemade Body Scrub

Here are simple instructions to follow to make a homemade scrub. It's cheap and more than likely you already have the ingredients in your kitchen cabinet.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup granulated (white) sugar
2 cups brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or your preferred essential oil)

Directions:

Combine the two sugars in a bowl and mix well.
Add olive oil and stir.
Mix in honey and vanilla.
Store in an airtight jar and it is ready for use!

*Oil will settle in jar, so stir before using!*

*Scrub is intended for body use only, not for your face*

Vaseline~Miracle Worker

Just a little while ago my lips were feeling a bit dry, so I went to the bathroom and applied some Vaseline to my lips. As I was applying it, I thought about all of the uses for Vaseline. You can use vaseline for pretty much anything. Below is a list of the top 10 ways to use vaseline.

Lip moisturizer
Makeup Remover
Smooths the heel and ball of your feet
Smooths elbows
Tames and moisturizes eyebrows
Smooths dry skin. PERIOD.
Mix it with sea salt and you have a homemade body scrub!
Rub it on a makeup stain on your clothes and its instantly gone (you can also use hand sanitizer to remove clothes stains)
Apply a thin layer to your skin in place of shaving gel (if you are out) to shave!
Apply a thin layer to your skin before spraying on perfume to make the scent last longer!

These tips are super duper awesome and are sure to save you some money at some point. Everybody should have vaseline handy!

What have I been doing for the past month?

Since I am a college student, I have had an extremely long Christmas Break. I have been working on items to had to my shop. I have also been playing with my new Wii. I got the Zumba Fitness 2 game and it is EVERYTHING. It is sooo much fun that I can't even tell I am working out. The game counts how many calories you are burning and you get stars depending on how much energy you have. The more stars you get, the more awards you get. That in itself makes me dance that much harder. LOL! It is really an awesome game! I have also been spending a lot of time with my boyfriend, friends, and family. I lost my grandmother back in April, so this was our first Christmas without her, and although she was not physically present, you could still feel her spiritually. That was very comforting.

For Christmas, one of my presents was a trapper hat (pictured below). Mine has leopard print fur instead of the black fur. It is so warm, cozy, and cute! I love it! Everybody should invest in a trapper hat! :)

Well, that's pretty much all I have been doing. Next Wednesday classes start back, so it will be back to grind time. I will be graduating in May, so I will have a pretty relaxing semester. Which will hopefully mean I will have more time to dedicate to my blog, especially since I do not have classes Monday, Wednesday, OR Friday. Lol.

My Passion

I have always loved anything involving fashion. When I was younger, I wanted to be a fashion designer. As I got older, I realized that I needed to have a back up plan, so I majored in Agricultural Economics and will be getting my degree in May 2012. All through the years, however, doing something in the fashion world has always been a burning passion of mine. One day, back in November, I was introduced to Etsy by one of my friends who sells her beautiful handmade stone jewelry there (by the way, check her out: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Beautifulelements). Etsy is a website that specializes in sellers that sell handmade goods. Anywho, a few days after she showed me the website, I decided to look for a pair of crystallized heels to wear to a All Black Party. I came across a pair that were a little out of my price range, but after studying the shoe, I realized that I could do it myself. Not only was I going to start crystallizing shoes myself, but I was also going to sell them. I feel that everybody deserves to have that one signature pair of shoes that makes them feel so special at half or even a quarter of the price that others decide to sell them for. So, a week later I finished my first pair of shoes (pictured below).

Since this the completion of this pair of shoes, I have expanded my business to not only include crystallized heels, but phone cases, evening clutches, jewelry, or anything else you would like to have crystallized! Below I have attached a few images to give you a taste of my work!

How Did I Start My Business

Jewell’s Embellishing was founded on November 8, 2011, while making plans to attend a special event. I needed a unique, one of a kind, FABOLOUS pair of shoes that wouldn’t break the bank, but would make my outfit explode. After a very thorough search of the internet, I stumbled upon a fancy, beautiful pair of embellished heels that were exactly what I had in mind. I examined the shoes and thought, “Hm…I can do this myself.” At that moment, sparked by my desire to be unique and a dream to do my own thing; I went to a store, bought the crystals and went to work. My completed project looked fantastic and I knew that NOBODY else would have on a pair of shoes like the ones I wore. The project was such a success, that I have expanded the business to include jewelry and clutches, along with crystallized shoes. Fashion has always been a passion of mine and I hope to use this passion to make you feel like the QUEEN or PRINCESS you are; when you rock any of my unique and exclusive items.
